Ever since the Bottleworks District, including Bottleworks Hotel and The Garage Food Hall, opened in late 2020-early 2021, residents and tourists alike have been flocking to Mass Ave to check out its latest northern extension. Meticulously built into what remains of the former Coca-Cola bottling plant that malingered in this area of Mass Ave for decades, Bottleworks District is drawing business and visitors to an already vibrant area. The addition of a hotel in the area, or nearby, had been in the works for a while, and I'm pleased to say they really nailed it with Bottleworks Hotel.

Boasting three floors of trendy, modern room, a bar, a Cunningham Group restaurant (Modita), and proximity to everything Mass Ave, you won't regret a stay at Bottleworks, whether it's for a vacation in Indianapolis or a fancy staycation for us Hoosiers. Let's dig into the details!

Bottleworks Hotel: Location

Unsurprisingly, one of Bottleworks Hotel's strongest features is its location in The Bottleworks District at the northern end of Mass Ave. With easy proximity to all the Bottleworks District has to offer, including a dine-in movie theater (seriously Living Room Theater is great), food hall, shopping, and spa, you'd be hard-pressed to need to leave The Bottleworks District. But, of course, when you do, you'll find yourself on Mass Ave. Consider me biased, as a former resident, but you'll find "the Ave" to have the best bars and restaurants in the city.

Bottleworks Hotel: Parking

Wondering where you'll park during at stay at Bottleworks Hotel? There is, naturally, valet parking and it is, unsurprisingly, expensive (currently $45/night), with in-and-out privileges. We tried to beat the system by parking in a surface lot nearby - there are several parking lots up in the Bottleworks District with long-term metered parking. You pay hourly, with a daily cap, but there's a hitch! You don't have in-and-out privileges, so the cap restarts when you take your car out.

Bottleworks Hotel: Guest Rooms

Gilded King Room, Bottleworks Hotel, Mass Ave
We had the absolute pleasure of spending nearly a full week in a "Gilded King" room, featuring its own private terrace, gorgeous marble bathroom (of course we were escaping a similar glow-up to our bathroom at home), separate seating area, and desk station. Obviously, with the hotel being brand new, the fixtures are gleaming, and I have to confess the room was much nicer than I expected, even having watched the hotel be built for several years.

A huge skylight offers beautiful natural light (but no real views), and is covered each night by an electric skylight shade that never ceased to bring me joy.

Bottleworks Hotel:
Eating & Drinking

If you're staying at Bottleworks, chances are eating and drinking are at the top of your to-do list, as they should be! Beyond its Mass Ave location, the hotel itself offers food and drink options, from in-room coffee (and drinks!), to the incomparable Modita.

In-Room

The guest rooms come complete with a functional Keurig and really cute Bottleworks mugs (They really should sell these. I'd have bought some).

The in-room mini bar (no, it's not free. Don't get too excited) features local Indiana beverages - which I always appreciate! Had I not been pregnant, I would have been all over this, let's be real. Pachanga is my jam.

Bottleworks Hotel: Blue Collar Coffee

Stop by Blue Collar Coffee for great coffee, sturdy breakfast sandwiches, delectable croissants, and a great atmosphere. I think I came by every day of our stay, not only to escape working full-time from a hotel room, but also to have a chat with the friendly staff.

Bottleworks Hotel: Modita

If you've been following the blog or my social media for a while, you'll know it's no secret that Modita is one of my favorite restaurants on Mass Ave, and has been ever since my first visit. I even penned an ode to Modita, as it deserves its own post. I mean honestly, bar tenders all around the city have taken pity on me and created some gorgeous mocktails, but my friends at Modita truly outdid themselves.

Bottleworks Hotel: Final Thoughts

If you're looking for a hotel in Indianapolis, downtown or otherwise, it's honestly going to be hard to beat Bottleworks. From the entire Bottleworks District, chic Mass Ave, and proximity to downtown without being in the touristy center, to the gorgeous guest rooms, helpful staff, and intriguing architecture, a stay at Bottleworks Hotel will be one to remember.
