Looking for a fun, family-friendly festival in Carmel?

The City of Carmel has changed a lot since I moved there as a kid in....well, let's not talk about the specific year, but suffice it to say, it was a long time ago. More recently, Carmel has become a suburban festival destination, with many free events featuring food vendors, live music, and, most importantly, a great time for the whole family.

Stop by the City of Carmel's festivals page for all of the details on these and many more annual festivals and special events!

Art of Wine

Carmel's Main Street and the Arts and Design District become wine and cheese central for Art of Wine, the yearly spring wine festival in downtown Carmel.

This year's Art of Wine will be May 18, 2024.

A basic wine tasting ticket is $30, which includes a tasting glass and program. Like what you tasted? Full bottles are available for purchase. Art of Wine is an all ages event, though obviously the fruit of the grape isn't available to all.

Don't forget your ID if you're going to be sampling!

Not seeing a specific event you can attend this weekend? Why not stop by the Summer Carmel Farmers Market, downtown Carmel on Carter Green on summer Saturday morning (May - September) or the Winter Carmel Farmers Market at The Six Eleven (October-March).

Carmelfest

The "original" Carmel festival, Carmelfest is the city's yearly Fourth of July celebration. Spanning several days, Carmelfest features dozens of food vendors and live music performances near Carmel City Hall, off of Rangeline Road, the Carmelfest parade, and, of course, those fireworks. 2024 will be the 30th anniversary of those famous Carmelfest Spark Buttons, so be sure to grab yours to support the fireworks, at Carmelfest!

Carmel International Arts Festival

Carmel International Arts Festival's mission is "educating the community through the arts." Every fall, it sponsors a 2-day festival in the Carmel Arts and Design District to bring a wide variety of artists to set-up and sell high-quality, unique, not-mass-produced wares. Artists are also eligible to win awards provided by the judging system at the festival. Saturday Night is "Art Rocks," with a band rocking the Main Stage.

The next International Arts Festival will be September 28-29, 2024.

Carmel Porchfest

Did you know that Carmel's favorite, outdoor live entertainment event where musician perform on neighborhood porches, Porchfest, has not one, but two "Porchfests?" The one we're used to calling "Porchfest" is in mid-September, in next year's case, September 15, 2024.

In 2023, we also have Holiday Porchfest, December 9 in Midtown Plaza, just from 2-4.
Did you know that Porchfest is a national event? It started in Ithaca, NY in 2007, with Carmel starting its own in 2014.

The classic fall celebration Carmel Oktoberfest, is a free event for the whole family! Enjoy Der Polkatz's musical stylings and see what the German food vendors have to offer.

Carmel Christkindlmarkt

Everyone's favorite Carmel festival, the German Christmas market-inspired Christkindlmarkt returns to rave reviews every holiday season, featuring quaint German Christmas decor sold in authentic chalet-style huts, delicious seasonal food, professional ice carvers, and live music from an array of performers including my personal favorite, the Alphorns. You do not need a ticket for Christkindlmarkt, and anyone is welcome to come and peruse! You do need a ticket if you want to ice skate, however, so be sure to allow plenty of time, as waits can be long at The Ice at Carter Green.

FAQ:

No! Christkindlmarkt is open to all! Come check it out - I promise, you'll be impressed.
Want to make a weekend out of it? Check into the Hotel Carmichael, Carmel's four-star Marriott Autograph hotel

Thanks for stopping by!
