Did you know there's a new season of Midsomer Murders?

 It's no secret that I am a massive Midsomer Murders fan. In fact, now that I can't go to England, the "England" portion of the blog has basically become Midsomer Murders merchandise, TV shows like Midsomer Murders, and general Midsomer musings.

I was thrilled to find out that, even with the pandemic, Midsomer was able to start filming and releasing its 22nd season, which, so far, doesn't disappoint. 

So let's dig-in! Midsomer Murders, Season 22, here we go! I'll be updating my reviews as new episodes are released.

Streaming Season 22 of Midsomer Murders is surprisingly easy! Sign-up for an AcornTV account, and you'll have access to all of the Midsomer Murders episodes...*EVER*. If this isn't enough to convince you, check out my full list of the best shows on AcornTV! Unfortunately, for now, we only have 2 episodes of Season 22. The remainder will be released later this year, after they are filmed.

Is Nick Hendrix still on Midsomer Murders?

Yes!, D.S. Winter isn't going anywhere anytime soon, I hope! Nick Hendrix is around for Season 22 of Midsomer, along with the trusty Neil Dudgeon as John Barnaby, and Annette Badland as the ever-surprising Fleur Perkins.

Midsomer Murders Season 22, Episode 1: "The Wolf Hunter of Little Worthy"

"The Wolf Hunter of Little Worthy" tops my list of favorite "new" episodes of Midsomer. Obviously I can't speak for all of Season 22 just yet, but I felt that "The Wolf Hunter" was truly Midsomer getting back to its roots.

A town's tech/start-up incubator brought forth a new bit of local folk lore for Midsomer's Little Worthy (the setting of another favorite episode of mine, guest staring Olivia Colman, "Small Mercies"). Someone has brought The Wolf Hunter to life with, you guessed it, murderous consequences. Villagers are being picked off one-by-one, with classic Midsomer framing and musical accompaniment. No one says "what are you doing there!" but it's close. And, of course, all of this is occurring in the midst of a full-on village battle over the fate of the local campground, through which Barnaby learns about "glamping."

• Mark Williams: A special cameo from Father Brown (or Mr Weasley, depending on your dedication to the murder mystery genre), brings a gentle note to a violent episode.
• Siobhan Redmond: You'll recognize Ms. Redmond from the reign of the previous DCI Barnaby, in Midsomer Season 9, Episode 8 "Last Year's Model."  and Acorn's Queens of Mystery, a short-lived, but enjoyable, Agatha Raisin attempted-replacement.
