Wondering what to pack for your Disney World vacation?

Lucky you! That means you're off to the most magical place on Earth, and there's nothing like a Disney vacation. While theme parks aren't normally my thing, Disney very much is. Both before and since having our daughter, Disney World has been one of our favorite vacation spots. Whether it's your first trip or your tenth, you're sure to leave the parks elated, exhausted, and filled with lifelong memories. Oh an a lighter wallet.

To focus on packing, you'll find a lot of guidance out there about what to pack for Disney World. Personally, I found that much of it was heavily focused on encouraging me to buy new things (I already have enough stuff and am about to spend a ton of money). So, I've tried to give practical guidance on Disney World essentials that aren't all cheap things you 'must buy' to cram up your suitcase. These are items you almost certainly own - just be sure to throw them in your suitcase before your trip!

And a few general packing reminders about Disney World:
  • Central Florida can be hot and humid any time of year. Even in February, the sun is hot and my hair took on a life of its own. Bring the SPF attire.
  • Keep those feet comfortable, above all else!
  • It might be worth compiling a very simple first aid kit to keep in your room. While you can buy a lot of the things you might need for minor scrapes/illnesses at your hotel, if you're staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, this can be expensive and you won't have easy access to a CVS. A few basic medications, bandaids, etc. should do the trick and save you some money.
  • Be practical about how much you want to carry around all day if you aren't bringing a stroller. If you're on the fence about a stroller, I saw bring it, if only to store your park bag. There's plenty of stroller parking, so it won't cramp your style too much.

And while you're here, I hope you'll take some time to explore the many other free resources I've created to help you plan your Disney World trip!

a way to identify your stroller

If you're traveling with kiddos, I learned on my first trip with a toddler that you MUST have a quick an easy way to identify your stroller, in the sea of fancy black UppaBabby strollers. A balloon you buy at the parks, a pink ribbon you bring with you and tie on the handles, or, if you want to take the plunge, a fancy Disney stroller tag from Etsy - anything will do! For those of you unfamiliar with this element of Disney, no matter how perfectly you think you've parked your stroller in the Disney parks, especially Magic Kingdom, there's a significant chance that a cast member will move it. I had (wrongly) assumed they'd only move it if you parked it in a walkway, etc., but they're constantly even rearranging the strollers in stroller parking. We wasted a decent amount of time wandering around looking for our stroller, and it wasn't even a very crowded time of year.

a stroller fan

Even in winter, the Florida heat will sneak up on you. I'd bring the stroller fan you use at home. We didn't bring ours and bought one at Disney World, the batteries of which promptly died.

the right socks

Onto footwear for Disney World! The most important choice you'll make on any walking-heavy vacation, especially Disney World, is what to wear on your feet. And, thankfully trend-wise and comfort-wise, sneakers are the name of the game. And, also luckily for those same reasons, slightly higher socks are also the right call. "No show" socks work well for a certain style of sneaker, but I'd strongly advise against them for Disney World. The blister risk is just too high. Embrace the ankle coverage!

non-sneakers

I was so focused on packing the right sneakers for your Disney World trip (more on that {2025} A Mom's Guide to Practical Disney World Outfits), that I neglected to bring any non-sneaker shoes. While I wouldn't advise 'pool flip flops' aside from for use at the actual pool, I would recommend a pair of sandals that you could wear out to a dinner to look a little more elevated.

a bottle of hand sanitizer

When you're packing a bag to check for your Disney trip, it does feel fairly unromantic to include...an entire bottle of hand sanitizer. But, let's be real, it's the most magical and the germiest place on earth. Especially with three of us, we went through my little travel sized bottle of hand sanitizer in....one day. So save yourself some time, effort, and money, and pack a bottle in your checked bag. I'd also bring a bag of wipes, to wipe down phones and stroller after the end of a long park day.

FAQ: Should I bring a reusable water bottle to Disney World?

You are certainly welcome to bring a reusable water bottle into the Disney parks, and I would strongly recommend bringing yours to combat that Florida heat and avoid paying $4 each time you get thirsty. If you're staying on property, you can use the Disney dining plan mug for water, which is what I generally did, if you don't plan to leave it in your hotel room.

a portable charger for mobile devices

As much as I love the My Disney Experience App, using it constantly to schedule meals and lightning lanes can drain your mobile devices faster than you'd believe possible. Traveling with a toddler, we were going back to The Polynesian every afternoon for nap time regardless, and could charge our devices before our afternoon and dinner back in the Disney parks. However, if you're going to spend the entire day at the parks, you will absolutely need to bring a portable charger to charge your phone. You do NOT want to have to spend your time parked and huddled up around a plug while your phone charges.

Thanks for Stopping By!

I hope I've given you some food for thought as you pack for your Disney World vacation! I know you'll have as magic a time as we always do. And while you're here, I hope you'll take some time to explore the many other free resources I've created to help you plan your Disney World trip!
